Stones of Rememberance

The Jordan River in upper Galilee

The Man About The House and I are reading through the Book of Joshua in the mornings...just a little at a time. This morning we were in chapter 8 where 12 men were selected to carry boulders out of the Jordan River to build a place to remember. Their new year had just begun, as ours, and they were told to memorialize what God had done in their lives. Make a visual. Tell your children of the power of God.

As we paused to think about what we read, we were wondering if we do this, and if so, how. Really, what is in our house that gives us reminders of God? These are some...

Keepsakes of Dad remind me of the blessing of my parents and heritage...the family God placed me in.

Photos of trips to upstate NY and Ireland remind me of God's provisions each day.

Gifted furniture we utilize reminds me of the generosity of God.

Artwork given by best-friend-artist reminds me of the friends God has surrounded me with to share, challenge me/them, celebrate times of joy, weep in days of sorrow, and love.

These are my stones. Daily reminders of the power, goodness, love and blessings of God in my life.

What are yours?

Stones are special, and people have known it for millennia. It's cool to do what you're doing and make altars to what you have received. They become daily reminders and become more powerful inside.

Happy New Year to you and the man about the house! And to the sweet girls. We loved having time with the eldest and her beau at the cottage.
