However, this is an overwhelming picture for me today:

I am celebrating the completion of 41 years of life today, and up above it was 8 under my belt. I'm not sad about the 41. As my dad says, "It's better than the alternative!". :)
I have this picture framed in my office. I see people I will not see again until the other side of Heaven. Surrogate grandparents, family acquaintances.
There's a "peak" of Aunt Ruth. (It's kind of funny--she's not text-messaging, but doesn't it look like it?!! :)) I vividly remember this birthday. She had just moved into our home as a freshman in college to help sister Susan in a "time of need". All I knew was this was the closest to a big sister I'd ever get. She gave me a book of children's stories that is still in our library (but got lost in the trunk for a few days before unwrapping the gift!!), and is among my most treasured childhood possessions.
Of course, the best part is the look on mine and Mom's faces. Classic hair and clothing for 1974.
Since I've become a mother I've thought the children should give moms a "thank-you" gift while celebrating these days, so,
THANKS, MOM, FOR A GREAT START TO A WONDERFUL LIFE.

This is so sweet, Shari! I like the idea of children being thankful for their mothers on their own birthdays. The love between you in the picture is really beautiful. And I see a bit of all of your girls in your profile.
Happy Birthday!!!
Awww. How sweet to remember your mom and Aunt Ruth and yourself in this way on your special day, Shari! Our memories are such an important part of who we are. Glad you have some sweet, special ones, with a photo to concur!
Happy Birthday (again)!
I love this picture... what nostalgia! Thank you so much for sharing your birthday with me! Of course I am interested:D But I know how it feels to share something meaningful and not hear a peep out of people you share with. I guess that means they are just processing in the Grandpa Hart manner, silently.
Enjoy the rest of your day, your own way:) Rachel
Happy Birthday to an amazing woman! I always wish my friends a Happy Celebration Day when their children are celebrating their b-days, b/c if it wasn't for da mama, der be no baby.....she be the oven.....
I've missed ya! And that pix of you is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Emma! OH MY WORD! That's who I thought it was at first glance!!
And, are you trying to catch up w/ Dana in the years? Weren't you just in your 30's? Where does time go? Sigh........Now I'm in my 30's.......
I love you. ((Hugs))
Happy Birthday, you! This is such a cool photo, and yes, such good memories. That look on your face, and your mom's is just priceless.
Family and friends,
Thanks so much for the birthday wishes. It was a great day--perfect in every way with the exception of Katy's absence!
I love photos and the "markers" they represent. I think they are like the "stones of remembrance" God told Israel to set up.
We all need these moments, don't we?!
Love to you all--
Interesting quote, Shari. I have never heard the quote "stones of remembrance." I know this is an odd question, but what is the difference between an idol and a stone of remembrance?
